Interested in becoming an instructor for the DGC BC? Our New Guidelines:

DGC Teacher Qualifications
An instructor must have:
  • Five (5) years' minimum work experience as a Director, Production Manager, 1st Assistant Director, 2nd Assistant Director, Location Manager, or Assistant Location Manager on features, series, and/or movies of the week
               OR:
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Be fully conversant with all terminology and language used in pre-production and on the shooting set.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of and experience with the different hierarchies within departments and on set.
  • Be familiar with the structure of a screenplay and the production information it must contain,
  • A general knowledge of breakdown and budgeting would be an asset.
  • Strong communications and supervisory skills.
Wherever possible, applicants who are approved will be required to observe a current teacher in a classroom setting prior to teaching. Train the trainer courses will be available to successful applicants.
